CU@USC Hosts

ROB HUGHES

While taking a television course and getting an opportunity to go on camera, my professor Pat Hahn, looked at me and said, “You should think about getting into this.? And I did. I was the host of the annual fall sports show that the college produced, which won a Southwest Region Junior College Emmy Award. I'm forever indebted to the radio and television production faculty at Palomar for believing in me then, and they still support and follow my progress now. It was now time to make this dream a reality.

After transferring to USC in the fall of 2004, I auditioned for and got the job of a host for political Platfourm. Although it was a great experience, it didn't utilize my talents of interviewing, which CU@USC has allowed me to do. I have hosted during Fall 2005 and now Spring 2006. Producer Kathleen Bush was instrumental in helping me to improve as a host last semester. The constant support of my friends and family, as well as what I constantly think of as a miracle made possible only by my faith in God, has kept my passion alive of truly doing what I love. I looked forward to working with Friday night CU@USC producers Mike Hoy, Beth Palkovic, and our amazing crew to continue to maintain Trojan Vision's reputation as the authentic “best college station in the country.?

RACHNA KHATAU

Rachna is an MA student in Broadcast Journalism at the USC Annenberg School . She received her BA in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia College in Chicago . She currently interns at ABC's Primetime and this summer will be interning at CNN International in London . She has previously interned as a Pentagon reporter in D.C. and at WGN-TV News in Chicago . She is a founding member of a Chicago based theater company, was first runner up to Miss Illinois 2004, and has yet to miss a USC home football game! Rachna hopes to cover everything from politics to fashion and entertainment, and she really wants a puppy.

EUGENE LEE YANG
Eugene was born on January 18, 1986 as the unofficial "artistic" child of an unapologetically overachieving horde of intellectually superior perfectionists in a small German town called Pflugerville, Texas, where he began to culminate a distinct (yet understandable) desire to escape. Whether it was in the form of avid academic participation in theater, choir, and dance venues, or extracurricular activities such as homemade comic adventures, Crayola marker tattoos, and secret-code languages, Eugene always managed to discover personally wonderful, if not a bit strange, ways to outlet his creative plugs. Now a sophomore at USC, his ultimate childhood goal was realized when he was accepted into the Film Production program, since now he's actually encouraged to embrace all the crazy ideas his family and teachers so persistently steered clear of during "normal" conversation (usually to no avail). He aims to eventually work as a director/screenwriter in the industry but is more excited about the journey along the way, having a particular propensity to put things into philosophical prospective, as well as writing entirely too much about anything with way too much alliteration. International cuisines, astrological influences, invigorated recreation, perpetual learning, and dinosaurs all fascinate Eugene, fueling his ever-absorbing mind for insightful conversations, which brings him to CU@USC, besides the fact that he can (unfortunately) be a bit of ham. To escape, though, serves to help focus on one's center and balance in life, and that's the mindset Eugene strives for today.
